COSTA II EAST (POSEIDON-MED I), part of TEN-T Priority Project 21 (Motorways of the Sea), is direct continuation of the COSTA project (2011-EU-21007-S) This action was concerned with the preparation of the global plan of infrastructure development in Eastern Mediterranean, so that LNG can be widely adopted as marine fuel for Shipping operations. It designed a LNG transport, distribution, and supply (including bunkering) network and infrastructure and defined the framework for a well-functioning and sustainable relative market (vessels) for its demand.
OF acting as the technical coordinator focused on forecasting LNG demand in core Greek ports, using its established methods, developing LNG logistics chains and developing the business cases and the financing profile for the realization of the onshore / offshore (vessels) investments using LNG as an alternative marine fuel.
