The main objective of this project was the viability analysis for the introduction of new financial derivative products for the shipping sector in the Shanghai / Pudong based market.
The project reviewed the current status of derivative products in Shanghai (including the recently proposed box derivatives by the Shanghai (Export) Containerised Freight Index (SCFI)) and in the international markets.
It also reviewed the current regulation, opportunities and limitations and suggest reforms in the framework and industry. It also studied the shipping related products available worldwide.
