

Europa Venture participated in the TEN-T Days exhibition in a shared exhibition space with Zero Vision Tool (that is the respective initiative of the Europa Ship Plan for North Europe and in particular for Sweden and Finland) where they exhibited ship prototypes to be built in the context of the European Shortsea fleet renewal.
Mr. Christos Spirtzis, the Greek Minister of Transport and Communications, visited the EV exhibition space, as well as Mrs. Peti Perka, General Secretary of the Ministry and the Deputy Minister of Defense, Mr. Dimitris Vitsas where they discussed with Dr. Zacharioudakis the intrinsic needs and prerequisites of the plan and the prospects for the Greek Shipbuilding Industry from the erection of a part of the ships in Greece.
The DIP was officially presented in this year’s TEN-T Days event that took place in 20- 22 of June in Rotterdam. There were discussed the main policy axes in the European Networks, among which the Motorways of the Sea. Among the speakers in the three days conference were Mrs. Violeta Bulc, European Commissioner for Transport, the President of the European Investment Bank, Mr. Werner Hoyer and the Vice-president of the European Commission, Mr. Maroš Šefčovič.
A special session dedicated to the presentation of the Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP) for the Motorways of the Sea (MoS) was organized where, amongst others, participated as speakers for the shipping industries the following gentlemen: Mr. Manuel Grimaldi – CEO, Grimaldi, Mr. Niclas Mårtensson – Deputy CEO, Mr. Paolo Costa –CEO, Port of Venice, as well as the President of the Hellenic Shortsea Shipping Association, Mr. Charalampos Simantonis and the Managing Director of Europa Venture, Dr. Panagiotis Zacharioudakis.
The EUROPA SHIP Plan has been included in the Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP) for Motorways of the Sea (MoS). The DIP for MoS, built for Shipping and Ports by Mr. Brian Simpson the European Coordinator for MoS, published in 17th March 2016, will constitute a clear and precise guidance document for Development and Research priorities throughout the Union’s Development, Funding and Co-operation Programs. In the DIP, ESP’s implementation is described as “the optimum and only possible solution”. As it is precisely mentioned to that document which was published on 17th March 2016 the ESP constitutes an initiative of HSSA introducing a sustainable financing strategy for the renewal of the South European Short Sea Shipping fleet, by adding innovative and green characteristics to it.
